Yarila hoped to become one of the Fey Lords. She was gifted power but Nicnevine the Witch Queen cast her out, killed her, and entombed her here on the cliffs with the other extinct beasts from the time before the Shadow Realm came.
Yarila, a cursed undead, practiced her own witchcraft, calling on a servant from another world. A being came calling. Burreon the Vetala Demon.
Burreon the Vetala demon enslaved Yarila and her servants, drawing energy from their suffering. It hopes to cross over to Midgard to devour more souls, cause more pain, and become powerful enough to return to the Shadow Realm and take it over.
The Duchy of Perun’s Daughter, as outsiders call it, lies several days downriver from the Free City and is a land of some interest to the people of Zobeck for two reasons: The nation controls the River Argent’s connection to land and trade venues on the shores of the Ruby Sea, and its matriarchal and matrilineal country is ruled by the demigoddess Vasilka Soulay, the daughter of Perun, god of war and thunder and the greatest god of the East.
The Grandaughters of Perun sent envoys and support to the Sisters of Hope – followers of Sif – in their struggle against the forces of the vampires and darakhuls. Wynasia’s sister was one of them.
The Sisters of Hope came through the Stone Galleries. An arrow with a symbol of the Granddaughters of Perun is there on the site and one of the statues is one of Wynasia’s fellow sisters of Perunalia.
The Stone Gallaries were once an outpost of the elven ruins of Thorn. Now they are a breeding ground of cockatrices and basilisks.
A network of passages beneath the Stone Galleries are ruled over by medusa sorcerers. These sorcerers have a loose alliance with the Ghoul Imperium.
Jozht, City of Fish, lies on the northwest coast, approximately 20 miles north of the border with the Province of Krakovar. Once a rather humdrum fishing town accustomed to defending itself from raiding reaver dwarves, Jozht sought the aid of its former enemies when the undead invaded. It is now part of the Wolfmark and is Jarl Skuti the Whelp’s (LN male reaver dwarf) fledgling kingdom on the southern side of the Nieder Strait.
Armed with the Holy Robes of Sister Adelind, the Sisters of Hope planned to empower the artifact at the site of Sister Adelind’s death south of Johzt. They have not been heard from since.
